What should I look for in a dentist’s credentials?

Check that the dentist is licensed in North Carolina and has completed an accredited dental program. Look for additional board certification in a specialty if you need specific treatment, such as orthodontics or oral surgery. Experience, continuing education, and membership in professional societies also indicate a commitment to quality care.

How can I use online reviews to choose a dentist in Wilmington?

Read several recent reviews on reputable sites and note patterns rather than isolated comments. Consistent praise for punctuality, clear explanations, and gentle technique suggests reliable service. Pay attention to any recurring concerns about billing, cleanliness, or emergency handling, and compare how the practice responds to negative feedback.

What questions should I ask during my first call?

Ask whether the dentist treats your specific condition and if they have experience with your required specialty. Inquire about appointment availability for new patients, insurance acceptance, and the cost estimate for an initial exam. Confirm the office’s emergency protocol and cancellation policy.
