What qualifications should I check when choosing a dentist in Pomona?

Review the dentist’s education, including a DDS or DMD degree from an accredited school, and confirm any additional specialty training such as a board certification in orthodontics or oral surgery. Look for active licensure in California and membership in professional organizations, which indicate a commitment to ongoing education and standards of care.

How can I verify that a dentist accepts my dental insurance?

Visit the dentist’s website or call the office directly to ask about the insurance plans they participate in. Most practices list accepted carriers online, and staff can confirm whether your specific policy is in‑network. You can also check your insurer’s provider directory for the clinic’s name and status.

What should I expect during my first dental visit?

During the initial visit the dentist will review your medical history, perform a visual exam of your teeth and gums, and often take X‑rays to assess hidden issues. A hygienist may clean your teeth, and the clinician will discuss any findings, treatment options, and answer questions before you schedule follow‑up care.
